August 31st - Saturday

Oh, I had grand plans for today -- a panel on Alien Sex, future World Cons and cat vacuuming, a reading by OSC, an auction for Ron Walotsky and an auction for TAFF/DUFF. So what did I do? Spent all day in the Dealers Room and around the Con bid tables. Jan, JD & I did have a great lunch of sandwiches, chips and wine ... where the topic of conversation was all the pillows bouncing around the convention center.

We decided not to go to the Masquerade and to go out for dinner instead. But first Jan had JD lace her up. I wish I had snapped this picture 5 seconds before. The look on his face was priceless.

And off we went. Wondering who the heck was inside the Hummer Limousine

And to dinner, where they told us it would be a 45 minute wait.

But boy, was it worth it. I think all 3 of us would highly recommend this place. Very attentive service and wonderful food.

Then it was on to the Fairmont,

And try to get up the elevators before the Masquerade let people out. We didn't. But we did take the express up to the 20th floor.

We hit TorCon 2003, the Con Suite, Timebinders, BayCon, ConJose, the LA in 2006 bid where Jan & I got spaceship tattoos, Japan in 2007, Duckon, Boston 2004 -- most inventive poster, Further Confusion, South Africa Science Fiction, Seattle in 2005 where Dave Anderson was the sticker man, Baen -- chocolate cake and orange soda/tequila shooters and Minneapolis in 73 where JD got pickled.

The annual Xerps party (Sip and Go Nekkid!) was canceled, because their dog died. And the party of the convention? Los Angeles rocked! Several rooms, with something different going on in each one. You had to go through an airlock to get in.
