RWalotsky:	When I started, I was very young when I realized that the One
thing that I could do better than anything   
RWalotsky:	else was draw and paint. 
RWalotsky:	So I realized Early on where my strengths lie. I wasn't good at
anything else.
RWalotsky:	I went to the School of Visual Arts for 4 years, and did my first
cover

JDipale:	Actually, I really like the one on the T-Shirt
RWalotsky:	There's a few pieces that have stuck with me, but it's hard to
choose- I stay very prolific. 
Nycrawlor:	How do get ideas for your Art, does it just "come to you?"
JDipale:	People in NYC seem to like it as well
RWalotsky:	I like what I'm working on at the time. some of the old things do
hold up...
RWalotsky:	NY, I get my ideas for the illustrations by reading the
manuscript. Make Thumbnail sketches while I'm reading.

RELM Muse:	Ron, what about art that isn't a cover?  Where do those ideas come
from?
RWalotsky:	For my own work, it's much more spontanious. I've been combining
some abstract and figurative work 
Nycrawlor:	so what we see is what you envision, not what the author sees?
RWalotsky:	And working on a different series of my own paintings...
RWalotsky:	JD, that was Nature of Pan.<G>
RWalotsky:	(gail says it's hard to keep up with both screens!)
JDipale:	Yes!  That's it!

RWalotsky:	NY, I rarely will talk to the author, unless he has a say in the
cover.

RELM Muse:	I assume that's Pan the God, not Pan the Skillet?

RWalotsky:	Which will mean that he's very well known. But I mainly deal with
the art directors or editors.

RWalotsky:	NY, yea the author usually fairly surprised. They don't see the
cover till it's on the book!

RWalotsky:	JD, there's a lot of illustrators and artists from the past...one
of my favorite artist's is Rene Megrette (sp

RWalotsky:	by doing psychedlic posters, it was the closest way to make a
living- do what I like to paint. 
Techyo:	Ron comics were some of my first interest in art. Has that ever
enter/infulanced your work?

RWalotsky:	I went to the book stores, found the publsihers who were doing the
work that I liked.
RWalotsky:	I read comics when I was growing up constantly. I did two covers
for Heavy Metal in the early 80's.
RWalotsky:	But mainly stayed in Hard covers and paperbacks.

RWalotsky:	Muse, I'm really pretty prolific. Most of the pieces from the
early  
RWalotsky:	60's have been sold. And I will sell Originals at shows, for
collectors...I'd rather have them hanging in some
RWalotsky:	one's home than in my closet.

RELM Muse:	Do you sell prints?
RWalotsky:	I don't believe in holding on, I'll paint till I die. So I always 
RWalotsky:	keep creating new work.
RWalotsky:	Yes, we have quite a few different prints that we sell along with
the originals and t-shirt.

intend to part with it?

RELM Muse:	TAM, good question!
RWalotsky:	Horse shoe crab Masks called Ancient Warrior's of Lost
Civilizations...
RWalotsky:	There's very few paintings that I would keep. Gail has her
favorites though, gets very upset if I try to sell 
RWalotsky:	one of them. So I end up giving them to her! 
RWalotsky:	I sell the other ones.....

mathematician to know how to use the big parts!)

nice. IF it's good, I'll be more critical becau

somebody wanted to take the image off the comp

and put it on his site.
RWalotsky:	uter for their own personal use, that's not going to bother me.
the dpi is low resolution.
Techyo:	Do artists include "bit's" in their art to provide copywrite
protection like say maps do?

write.

types of art.

of each into your own. taht's not cheating  

RELM Muse:	No, I think creative people find inspiration everywhere.  It can
be hard to say where..
RWalotsky:	as long as you make it into your own. that's what early artists
used to do. Paint old paintings in the museums
