The most flattering descriptions tag it as the graphic, camp, and mass- market arm of
science fiction. The least flattering often describe it as science fiction's rich, idiot sibling.
What are we talking about? Sci-Fi, skiffy, or speculative fiction boiled down to its lowest
common denominator. Is Sci-Fi the perpetual boil on SF's backside, or is it the mass-
market gateway to genre acceptability? Although both categories share a similar image in
the public eye, their stylistic approaches are as different as those of Pauly Shore and
Dennis Miller. Bring your zap-guns and sound effects and join HOST Shadow in O*W*C
chat for an evening of Sc-Fi vs. SF!

Quote of the Day:
"My pal, who studied anthro in college, has a theory that women are smaller than men,

The Magratheans made their fortunes from them. Ringworld was a particularly ambitious
example. Humans have a history of altering their environments to suit them, and now
we're considering it on a global scale. SF is filled with terraformed planets, artificial
worlds, and other designer habitats. Join HOST Chip for a look at custom planets!
